Advocacy 101 – Tips for a Successful Meeting with your Legislator

Tip 1: It’s all about relationships! Life at the Legislative Plaza can be a lot like high school. The more people you know and the better you know them, the greater the influence you can have. Just like in high school, there are certain movers and shakers who you really want to build a good relationship with and these might include party leaders and chair persons of key committees.

Support the CRPD

Support the CRPD

Alongside disability, veteran and human rights organizations all over the world, we continue to work in support of the CRPD (Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities). The United States Senate has successfully passed an international treaty protecting fish and now we need them to protect us.

A brain injury can happen anytime, anywhere, to anyone – a brain injury does not discriminate. In fact, 2.4 million Americans sustain a brain injury each year. Early and equal access to care for all is essential.

Areas of Work

Mother with Two Sons

The vision of the Tennessee Disability Coalition is to create a society that values, supports and includes people with disabilties. In pursuit of that vision, our Board of Directors has designated several areas of work.

These are not comprehensive, but provide an overview of the issues in each area and an introduction to the current efforts that the Tennessee Disability Coalition and our partners are engaged in to address them.
