A program for families of a child who is deaf or hard of hearing

  • Provide consultation and support to families affected by hearing impairments in children and related concerns.
  • Provide information, identify possible resources and offer referral assistance as requested or appropriate to families or providers that serve affected families.
  • Disseminate materials to inform healthcare providers about family expectations, needs and preferences.
  • Develop parent support groups.

What are Parent Consultants?

Parent Consultants are parents just like you who have children of various ages who are deaf or hard of hearing. We have experienced the same emotions, had the same questions and fears
that you have.

We strive to provide support services to families of children who have been recently diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing as well as families who have known of their child’s hearing loss for some time.

We have been trained to provide information and support and are
committed to providing an unbiased look at raising a child who is deaf or hard of hearing.

All forms of communication are supported including:

  • amplification
  • cochlear implantation
  • signing
  • cueing
  • spoken language

We believe that parents know what is best for their child and family but need enough information to make good, informed choices and we pride ourselves in keeping abreast of all the experts, resources, and people that might be able to help you.
