Change is Coming - TN Health Care Campaign
The Tennessee Health Care Campaign (THCC) is excited to announce that Beth Uselton, formerly East Tennessee Lead Organizer and THCC Lead Organizer, will be its new Executive Director. The hiring was the natural step to address the expected retirement in June 2012 of Tony Garr, who has now stepped aside as Executive Director to become Deputy Director. According to Tony, “It is now more important than ever to get involved and be heard! Will we step forward? Join with me and work side by side with our new Executive Director, Beth Uselton, to make sure that no one is left behind!”
Following the announcement, Beth expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to lead THCC forward:
“I have a lot to learn and very big shoes to fill, but I am fortunate to work with a wonderful mentor, a fantastic Board of Directors and outstanding volunteers across the state who have dedicated their time, energy and talents to our mission.
With the passage of federal health care reform and the election of a new governor, we have a tremendous opportunity to shape health care delivery and access in the state of Tennessee to the benefit of consumers and patients. The next three years of implementation will be critical for determining the outcome and success of the Affordable Care Act, and ultimately, the prospects for continued reforms of our health care system.
This law is not perfect and the road ahead will not be easy, but I truly believe that we can leave a lasting legacy of a more just, equitable and sustainable health care system if we commit ourselves to working in good faith with the new administration, the legislature and our community partners to implement the new law to the benefit of all Tennesseans, especially the most vulnerable of our neighbors.
To the hundreds of volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy...
To the donors who help support our work with contributions and gifts of all sizes . . .
To our neighbors who have had the courage to stand up and share their stories . . .
To our community partners who have worked with us as we seek creative solutions . . .
Thank you for all that you have done to speak out for health care justice! I hope that you will continue to partner with the Tennessee Health Care Campaign as we continue this important work towards access to affordable, high-quality health care for all Tennesseans. Thank you!”
Beth Uselton,
THCC Executive Director
