TN-NADD 2010 Conference, September 23-24

TN- NADD is the Tennessee Chapter of the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed.   TN-NADD is dedicated to the advancment of mental wellness for persons with developmental disabilities.

This year's conference Transitions:  The Good, The Bad, The Effective, will explore the multiple dimensions of transitions, including the psychological changes that people and their families encounter across developmental stages.

New Concussion Policy for TN Athletics

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has voted for a new concussion policy for coaches, athletes, parents and officials for the upcoming school year. The TSSAA Board of Control approved the new policy unanimously Wednesday during a conference call.

The TSSAA is adopting the National Federation of State High School Associations policy which requires any player who exhibits signs of a concussion to be removed from the game. The player can't return until cleared by the appropriate health care professional.

Next Chapter Book Clubs - East TN

ETTAC LogoThe East Tennessee Technology Access Center, a regional nonprofit technology resource center for people with disabilities, is pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities to establish "Next Chapter Book Clubs" in several counties (Knox, Sevier, Blount, and possibly Cocke) in East Tennessee.

The Arc FINDS Survey

Community Organizer Position

The Tennessee Disability Coalition is seeking persons to work as Community Organizers. The positions will be Temporary, (approximately 8 weeks), and Part-time, (8-10 hours per week). Responsibilities will include active participation in local events; engaging with Political Candidates; and educating and mobilizing the community on a nonpartisan basis – with a primary focus on persons that either have a disability themselves or having a family member with a disability.
